Downtown Holiday Kick-Off | 1:30pm - 2:00pm
On Thursday, November 14th, Mayor Hales will unveil this year's holiday campaign- downtown sculptures will get into the spirit with holiday-themed ugly sweaters! The sculptures, starting with "Allow Me" in Pioneer Courthouse Square, will be yarn bombed by a local fiber arts collective, to bring additional festival fun to downtown's shopping core.


Stimson Lumber Tree Arrival

Come downtown to welcome the arrival of Portland's 75-foot tall Douglas Fir to Portland's Living Room. Festivities include a visit from Santa, the Beat Goes on Marching Band, seasonal songs performed by the Dickens Carolers and free hot chocolate provided by Unitus Community Credit Union.

Kettle Kick-Off | 5:00am - 7:00am
The Salvation Army's Annual Red Kettle Kick-Off is on the 21st! Come help them kick-off the season with KGW NewsChannel 8 and Fred Meyer as they ring in the season with the Metro Brass Band, officers and friends of The Salvation Army.

Aware in the Square | 7:30am - 5:30pm
This event is part of the national Get Smart About Antibiotics Week, which is a week-long targeted public health campaign sponsored by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

Day of Homelessness Awareness | 8:00am - 10:00am
On November 22nd, the Day of Homelessness Awareness will be observed in Portland and Multnomah County, in conjunction with National Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week. The Day of Homelessness Awareness is a organized by New City Initiative, in collaboration with Multnomah County and the City of Portland. The event will include breakfast at Sisters of the Road Cafe, an early morning "Walk of Awareness," and will culminate with an "Interfaith Convocation" at Pioneer Courthouse Square.

Be Merry at the Square! On the busiest shopping day of the year, the day after Thanksgiving, thousands of Portlanders will gather at the Square to celebrate the official start of the season by lighting the City’s spectacular 75ft Douglas-fir tree provided by Stimson Lumber Company. This year’s event will feature a holiday sing-a-long featuring Thomas Lauderdale with members of Pink Martini, “Oregon’s Own” 234th Army Band, the Pacific Youth Choir and many more.
*Strobe lights will be used during this event.
