DESCRIPTION:Sherbet Tone will be performing at Noon Tunes over the lunch hour! Sherbet Tone serves up satisfying jangle-pop from Portland\, Ore. Conceived as a solo basement project by ex-Genders guitarist Stephen Leisy\, a full-length of psychedelic pop (a la The Cleaners from Venus or White Fence) was put to hissy tape and is available for consumption on all streaming platforms. When a band was formed to perform live\, new tunes grew ever more jangly\, Dwight Twilley Band-inspired\, and\, dare we say\, borderline power pop? The group’s latest EP\, lovingly titled Dead Moon T-shirt\, was performed live as a full band and captured/engineered by Kyle Morton of Typhoon fame in his basement studio. It’s a testament to how the project has become a group effort. Sherbet Tone is rounded out by Annie Miranda (Soft Cheese\, How Strange It Is) on bass\, Conner O’Shea (Soft Cheese) on guitar\, and Corey Ciresi (Lee Corey Oswald) on drums and vocals. \nThe Noon Tunes Summer Concert Series returns to The Square for its 34th year on Tuesdays and Thursdays June 2 – July 30! At least it sure sounds that way according to the recent output from Portland based Post-Yacht Rock outfit Fox and Bones\, whose best work is coming directly following their split as a romantic duo. Or perhaps it was the addition of internationally acclaimed songwriter Greg Holden\, who joined the project as a producer for their 2024 album “Long Time Honey” and upcoming fifth studio record “Are We Still Having Fun”\, scheduled for release September of 2026. \nRegardless of what has codified the group\, the musical result is undeniable. “Are We Still Having Fun” is an expansive step forward for the band\, both lyrically and sonically\, as the duo tackles technology\, the modern political climate\, anxiety\, party culture and mental health under a musical tapestry that ranges from their familiar retro folk rock to modern Bleachers-esque indi-pop. It is a plunge into the deep end after years of swimming on the surface.
