Peaceful Demonstration for Peaceful Rights in Tibet

On July 1, China will implement the so-called Ethnic Unity and Progress Law—a law that many human rights advocates say legalizes the forced assimilation of Tibetans and other ethnic minorities. It threatens the Tibetan language, religious freedom, cultural identity, and even extends the reach of repression beyond China’s borders. We stand in solidarity with our brothers and sisters in Tibet and all affected communities, and we call on democratic governments and the international community to speak out against this law and defend the universal rights to culture, language, religion, and freedom.
