The Downtown Portland holiday season officially kicked off last week when Portland’s 75-foot Douglas-fir arrived in Portland’s Living Room for the holiday season. This year’s tree, grown on sustainable forestlands near Gaston, Oregon, is being generously donated by Stimson Lumber for the 19th year in a row. The Tree embarked on its three-day journey from the forest to the heart of downtown with the help of Redmond Heavy Hauling and NessCampbell Crane.

In compliance with the Governor’s COVID regulations, community members watched Portland’s Tree be lifted into position in the center of the Square by a 40-ton capacity hydraulic truck crane on a live stream featured on the Square’s social media channels. Portland Parks & Recreation’s Urban Forestry division helped to secure the tree into place.

The Pioneer Courthouse Square Event Production team is now hard at work skillfully reattaching tree branches and working with Portland’s Hollywood Lights to adorn the tree with over 14,000 energy-efficient LED lights which will be ceremoniously lit on November 27th at 6:30 pm with a special hour-long televised program on KGW 8 presented by Regence BlueCross BlueShield of Oregon.
